Mini excavators move with the aid of a rubber track. In order to distribute its weight evenly across the vehicle's base, track rollers support and guide the rubber tracks. The harsh working environment means these track rollers are vulnerable to damage from debris and foreign matter.
A mini excavator manufacturer was experiencing early failures of the ball bearings used in the roller assemblies of their undercarriage. Dirt, debris, and humidity were leading to reduced service life of the ball bearings.
Igus recommended replacing the ball bearings with an iglide G300 plastic bushing. The iglide G300 material withstands extremely high loads and works at low to medium surface speeds. The G300 material is also less susceptible to dirt and humidity versus a ball bearing. By utilizing the iglide G300 plastic bushing, the manufacturer has experienced problem-free operation without maintenance for four years.
