A manufacturer of a combine harvester was looking for a way to improve the life of their bushings on their combine headers. Looking to alternatives to their current product, which is oil-impregnated bronze or rubber-encased bushings.
The customer was experiencing substantial price increases of bronze bushings, which pushed them to look for bushing design alternatives.
Igus was able to offer a lubrication-free plastic bushing as an alternative to the oil-impregnated bronze bushing currently in the application. The Igus plastic bushing is self-lubricating, can handle heavier loads, is easier to install, is less expensive, and lasts longer than oil-impregnated bronze bushings.
